Sometimes the best laid waterfowl hunting plans need to be unexpectedly altered. We were unable to access my number one field pick this day so I chose to set up our snow goose decoy spread in a field that we had already had a morning goose and duck hunt in a few days previous. It proved to be an excellent choice as the combination of shallow potholes with lots of mud, dried up areas where the crop had been flooded, and the remnants of a harvested barley field proved irresistible to the small flocks of Snow Geese, Ross Geese, and Mallard ducks that kept the boys and the dogs busy for the afternoon.
