At the beginning of each Snow Goose season it is common to see rafts of Snow Geese and Ross geese resting on ponds and lakes often very close to shore or even loafing on mud shores within shotgun range of passing vehicles and farm equipment. It doesn't take long though before these flocks of white geese wise up and begin to use the center of the roosting water. When you see them in an almost perfectly round gathering you know they have been getting their education at the end of some hunters gun barrels.
