Blue Wing Teal Hunt in Saskatchewan

Blue Wing Teal Hunt

Waterfowl Hunts Feb 14, 2016
Field decoy spreads for Saskatchewan mallard ducks and pintail ducks are common but on warm sunny days ducks aren't too interested in feeding in the fields, preferring to loaf on the water and maybe eat a little duckweed. on days like that a blue wing teal hunt can be a great option. This early September day we set up hunters in the cat-tails along the side of a long marsh so they could practice their pass-shooting skills on Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal, and gadwall. These hunters from Florida learned that shooting these little bullets was a bit different than taking mallard ducks as they land in your face. They quickly adjusted though and ended up with close to a limit of blue wing teal for the afternoon. Great little grilled tidbits those teal breasts make too, particularly if combined with bit of jalapeno pepper and then wrapped in bacon!
